Despite entering their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like striker Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable win that all but secures them a place in the Conference League playoffs.

Another three points in their upcoming fixture against Finland's KuPS should be enough to secure direct entry to the knockout stages, especially following a previous stumble against Strasbourg.

Fringe Players Seize the Moment

This match provided a platform for several Palace's fringe players to impress. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning after joining on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a clinical finish. Striker Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second consecutive match.

The Shelbourne team that had concluded their domestic season were outmatched even for a largely second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee problems.

Control Established from the Outset

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

The home side were hanging on for dear life. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was fortunate to avoid a booking for a couple of robust challenges on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a header from a corner.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes before half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past a series of comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several players like Kamada and Wharton. Substitute Romain Esse almost scoring his first touch, but saw his shot blocked.

Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then missed a glaring chance, indicating there is still scope for development in his game.

The only worry for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who limped off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to make his senior debut, capping an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
